Project Responsibilities Build and maintain custom themes, plugins, and Gutenberg blocks across a portfolio of high-traffic, multilingual WordPress sites Develop and maintain libraries, block collections, Composer packages, and tooling that accelerate delivery across teams Own quality and performance: refactor legacy code, optimize queries and caching, and improve Core Web Vitals metrics Build and consume REST APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems Take part in code reviews, CI/CD improvements, and engineering standards initiatives Collaborate with product, marketing, SEO, content, and QA teams on new features and site improvements Document technical decisions and contribute to engineering best practices Ensure software development best practices and timely product delivery Candidate's Portrait We're looking for a Senior WordPress Developer who treats WordPress as a modern engineering platform rather than a traditional CMS. You'll help build and scale high-traffic multilingual web platforms while maintaining high standards of performance, security, scalability, and code quality. The ideal candidate cares about architecture as much as feature delivery and writes code that other developers are happy to maintain. Must-haves: 5+ years of WordPress development experience Strong Object-Oriented PHP (8.x) skills Experience with namespaces, PSR standards, and Composer Deep knowledge of WordPress Core APIs Strong understanding of hooks, custom post types, taxonomies, WP_Query, and metadata APIs Experience with ACF Pro and native custom fields Solid production experience building Gutenberg blocks React and JSX development experience Experience with block.json and @wordpress/scripts Strong modern JavaScript (ES6+) Experience with Webpack or Vite Modern CSS development (Sass, PostCSS) Experience designing and building RESTful APIs Experience creating custom WordPress REST endpoints Strong understanding of WordPress security best practices Experience with sanitization, escaping, nonces, and user capabilities WordPress performance optimization expertise Object caching and query optimization experience Comfortable with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines Experience working in AI-assisted development environments (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) Good written and spoken English Nice-to-have: Block Themes Full Site Editing (FSE) theme.json WordPress Interactivity API Bedrock or similar Composer-based WordPress structures PHPUnit Playwright PHPStan PHPCS / WPCS Timber / Twig Blade templating WordPress Multisite WPML Polylang Headless WordPress WPGraphQL Next.js Accessibility (WCAG 2.2) Technical SEO Experience with enterprise content platforms Experience with high-traffic web applications
