About Us:
DeepJudge is Switzerland’s leading AI and ICT scale-up, transforming how law firms and legal departments access and leverage their knowledge. Founded by former Google search engineers with PhDs in AI from ETH Zurich, and backed by top-tier Silicon Valley investors, we are building the intelligence layer that powers the legal industry.
Every firm can license the same AI models, but no two firms share the same institutional knowledge. Decades of experience, work product, and precedent are often trapped across systems, underused and inaccessible. DeepJudge makes this expertise instantly available through world-class enterprise search and AI infrastructure, enabling firms to automate workflows, build knowledge-powered applications, and turn experience into a lasting advantage.
Our technology is trusted by many of the world’s leading law firms, including Freshfields, Gunderson Dettmer, Holland & Knight, Arent Fox, and Cozen O’Connor. Headquartered in Switzerland with a growing team across North America, we are expanding rapidly and shaping the future of how professional knowledge is discovered and applied.
At DeepJudge, we move fast, think rigorously, and care deeply about what we build. We combine cutting-edge research with close collaboration with our clients to deliver solutions that truly make an impact. If you want to be part of a team defining how AI transforms high-stakes knowledge work, this is the place to do it.
About the role:
We are looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join our team. You will work directly with customers to understand how they operate, identify high-leverage opportunities, and build AI-powered solutions that solve real problems. A big part of the role is using our own platform and internal tooling to turn the product’s capabilities into high-value experiences for customers. This is not a narrow research role or a pure implementation role. This is a role for someone who is curious, resourceful, and is eager to build great solutions on top of the DeepJudge platform.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning customer-specific AI solutions end-to-end, from understanding the problem and shaping the approach to building, deploying, evaluating, and improving the solution over time
- Building on top of our platform and internal tooling to create reusable AI-powered solutions that generalize across customers and can be relied on by thousands of end users
- Working closely with engineering and ML to improve AI-powered features of the core product and make the platform more intelligent over time
- Helping customers and their technical or innovation teams get the most out of the DeepJudge through hands-on collaboration, guidance, tooling, and documentation
- Evaluating new LLM models, techniques, and approaches as they emerge, and bringing them into production
- Proactively spotting opportunities and issues, and coordinating across teams to move important work forward quickly
What we are looking for:
- You have built technically ambitious things that use LLMs, whether in personal or professional projects, through APIs directly, frameworks such as DSPy, LangChain, or LangGraph, or equivalent systems built from scratch
- Proficiency in Python or JavaScript
- You are an exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, and you build trust quickly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You are highly customer-oriented, have strong intuition for what creates value, and care deeply about what you ship
- You are a persistent problem-solver who is comfortable in fast-moving environments where you need to figure things out as you go
- You do not need a legal background, but you should be excited to develop real domain expertise over time
- We care much more about your ability, judgment, and potential than about a specific number of years of experience
What you can look forward to:
- Taking ownership of meaningful work from day one
- Building relationships with teams at some of the world’s leading law firms
- Working on novel AI use cases that combine technical depth with real-world impact
- Being part of a team with ambitious goals, autonomy, and room to grow
- Having a real hand in shaping both our product and how customers succeed with it
- Competitive compensation, equity, and meaningful opportunities to grow as we scale
At DeepJudge, we believe great teams are built on diverse perspectives and experiences. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to fostering an inclusive, high-performance culture where everyone can thrive. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
If this role excites you, but you feel you don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway and tell us why you’d be a great fit.
