The posting, as the company wrote it
Employment: Full-time
Power the future of public transport across the Edmonton region
🌍 The Role
We’re transforming how people move across the Edmonton Capital Region.
Our Regional Smart Fare System (RSFS) makes transit seamless — tap and go with cards, devices, and smart tech across multiple transit networks. Behind the scenes, a complex ecosystem of validators, ticket machines, POS systems, and handheld devices keeps everything running smoothly.
That’s where you come in.
As a Service Maintenance Technician, you’ll play a critical role in keeping this system live, reliable, and performing at its best — both in the field and behind the scenes.
🔧 What You’ll Be Doing
Keep critical transit devices up and running across the network
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on smart fare systems
Diagnose and resolve real-time issues and incidents
Monitor system performance and run device diagnostics
Support software updates and system releases
Track and manage device inventory and components
Collaborate with transit agencies, internal teams, and vendors
Deliver against high SLA expectations in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
🧠 What You Bring

Hands-on experience with maintenance in large-scale systems
A natural problem-solver with strong attention to detail

Great communication skills and a customer-first mindset
A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
Bonus points for:
Experience with ticketing systems, Jira, or inventory tools
Knowledge of transit, mobility, or smart city tech
💪 What the Job Looks Like Day-to-Day
~70% field-based work across transit locations
Hands-on with hardware — lifting, installing, troubleshooting
Working in a mix of warehouse and on-site environments
Being part of a team that keeps a region moving every day
⚡ Why This Role is Different
Work on real-world, city-scale technology
Be part of a system used by thousands of people daily
Blend of hardware, software, and field engineering
High impact — when you fix something, it matters immediately
