At Raspberry Pi, we are proud to foster an environment where those who work with us can do what they love and do it well. By joining Raspberry Pi, you’ll be adding to a lean and passionate team dedicated to democratising technology and providing affordable access to computing tools to people across the globe.
Our engineers build computers used by millions of people, and they need their own tools to work well. As our Endpoint and Workplace Engineer, you will be responsible for the laptops, Google Workspace, SaaS tools, and meeting rooms they rely on every day, with the freedom to run them in an automated, self-service way. You will join our IT and Security team in Engineering Operations, reporting to the Engineering Operations Lead.
We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude who is self-starting and proactive, thinks independently, challenges the norm, and has an appetite to learn and adapt in a fast-paced technical environment.
This is a full-time role based in our Cambridge office. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.
About Raspberry Pi
Founded as a charity in 2008 and selling its first computer in 2012, Raspberry Pi today comprises two separate organisations operating in two locations:
At Raspberry Pi Ltd, we build best-selling computers, microcontrollers, and supporting software for industrial and embedded customers as well as home users worldwide
The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a charity dedicated to enabling all young people to realise their potential through computing
Requirements
Key responsibilities
We are looking for someone to perform the following tasks:
• Manage our Linux, macOS, and Windows laptops and our mobiles: security baselines, zero-touch setup, and compliance
• Administer Google Workspace and our SaaS tools, including licences, renewals, and sharing and retention settings
• Onboard new starters with their equipment, accounts, and desks, ready on day one
• Manage offboarding and access changes, working with the Infrastructure and Network Engineer to automate these processes
• Write Python and Bash tooling to replace manual administration
• Set up and look after desks and meeting-room AV: laptops, docks, monitors, peripherals, screens, and video conferencing tools
• Run our IT support channel and knowledge base
• Keep a register of our applications and support the CISO with endpoint and SaaS security
Requirements and skills
Raspberry Pi values pragmatic, independent thinkers who are comfortable engaging with external customers and partners, as well as internal stakeholders at all levels of seniority. We operate in a highly collaborative work environment, and the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Candidates should also have the following:
• Several years’ experience managing a mixed Linux, macOS, and Windows fleet as an engineer, rather than solely in desk-based support
• Linux skills, ideally on Debian- and Red Hat-based systems
• Experience programming in Python and Bash, working with APIs and Git
• Experience with Google Workspace (or similar) administration and single sign-on for SaaS
• A preference for open-source, scriptable tools, and a security-minded approach
• Good documentation habits
Experience in the following would also be beneficial:
• Configuration management, such as with Ansible
• Contributing to open-source projects
• Working in hardware or technology companies
Benefits
We offer employees the following benefits:
● Employer pension contributions of 8% when the employee contributes 4% of their gross salary into the company salary sacrifice pension plan
● Life assurance of 4× base salary
● Income protection of 75% of base salary in the event of critical illness, commencing after 13 weeks of long-term illness or absence from work
● Private medical insurance (medical history disregarded)
● Access to our electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, subject to eligibility
