Get to know us better CodiLime is a software and network engineering industry expert and the first-choice service partner for top global networking hardware providers, software providers and telecoms. We create proofs-of-concept, help our clients build new products, nurture existing ones and provide services in production environments. Our clients include both tech startups and big players in various industries and geographic locations (US, Japan, Israel, Europe). While no longer a startup - we have 250+ people on board and have been operating since 2011 we’ve kept our people-oriented culture. Our values are simple: Act to deliver. Disrupt to grow. Team up to win. The project and the team We develop software for modern networking platforms and operating systems for leading equipment manufacturers, as well as various other cloud-native, containerized services and solutions. In our test engineering teams, we bridge the gap between complex physical hardware (advanced routers, NPUs) and high-velocity, AI-driven development We are looking for an engineer who combines solid networking hardware intuition with an AI-first mindset to rapidly build, test, and maintain a Python testing tool across diverse router platforms. You don't need to write low-level code from scratch—your super-power is leveraging LLMs to code fast, flash hardware, and validate your code efficiently. What else you should know: We work using client-supplied hardware and tools The project is managed by the client, but the Codilime manager is also involved The client is from the US, so early evening meetings may be required Your role As a part of the project team, you will be responsible for: Research and define how to implement client requirements and ideas best Engage directly with client architects and end-users through design calls and syncs to gather requirements, clarify edge cases, and shape the future of the testing tool Develop and maintain a Python-based validation framework designed to test low-level SDK APIs Use modern AI coding tools (LLMs, Copilot, Codex, etc.) as your primary workflow to rapidly generate, refactor, and expand test scripts Do we have a match? As a Networking Hardware System Engineer you must meet the following criteria: Strong experience with Python for building applications. Strong Python proficiency for building and maintaining test automation with pytest. Experience building pytest frameworks with fixtures, parametrization, markers, collection hooks, phase routing, timeouts, recovery, and artifact capture. C/C++ Literacy: Ability to read and analyze C/C++ source code to understand underlying hardware behavior. Understanding of physical router hardware, router components such as optical modules and FRUs, and NPUs and driver libraries. Strong root-cause analysis skills using logs, traces, test reports, service journals, core files, and system state. Experience testing low-level SDK APIs and hardware driver features across Python wrappers, native APIs, and physical hardware state. Strong QA background in test design, API validation, and defect troubleshooting. Understanding of agentic workflows, including plans, skills, MCPs, specialist agents, context management, and long-running task recovery. Beyond the criteria above, we would appreciate the nice-to-haves: Experience integrating Python with native C/C++ libraries through SWIG or similar binding technologies, including awareness of ABI compatibility, shared-library dependencies, packaging, and process isolation. Hands-on experience with physical router hardware, router components such as optical modules and FRUs, and NPUs. Understanding of L2/L3 networking concepts, IP routing, and core protocols. Basic familiarity with traffic generators and analyzers, preferably IXIA/Spirent, T-Gen, or iperf More reasons to join us Flexible working hours and approach to work: fully remotely, in the office or hybrid Professional growth supported by internal training sessions and a training budget Solid onboarding with a hands-on approach to give you an easy start A great atmosphere among professionals who are passionate about their work The ability to change the project you work on
