The posting, as the company wrote it
This is Adyen
Adyen provides payments, data, and financial products in a single solution for customers like Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft - making us the financial technology platform of choice. At Adyen, everything we do is engineered for ambition.
For our teams, we create an environment with opportunities for our people to succeed, backed by the culture and support to ensure they are enabled to truly own their careers. We are motivated individuals who tackle unique technical challenges at scale and solve them as a team. Together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that help businesses achieve their ambitions faster.
Product Manager - Interface Foundations
The world's largest businesses run on Adyen. They manage their business in our portal, embed our components in their interfaces to serve their own users, and send their shoppers through our checkout. To them, it's all one product. It's built by many teams working in parallel, and whether it feels like one product depends on the foundations they share. You'll own the design system and technical frameworks those teams build on. You'll decide what gets built next, get teams across Adyen building on it, and set the standards that keep the experience consistent without slowing anyone down. Get this right, and building a great experience at Adyen becomes the default. Teams ship faster because they aren't rebuilding the basics, and merchants get an experience that holds together wherever they meet us.
What you'll do
Own the design system and technical frameworks the rest of Adyen leverages to build first-class customer experiences. Decide what gets built next across UI components and the technical infrastructure that powers our customer experiences, and treat the engineers and designers who build on them as your customers.
Sweat the details end customers see. Hold every component to a high bar, because it ends up in front of merchants, their users and their shoppers.
Set standards that accelerate. Define what good looks like for interfaces at Adyen, and build the review and governance that teams experience as help rather than a gate.
Drive adoption without authority. Support teams with their own roadmaps and priorities to build on the shared foundations you provide.
Measure what matters. Set clear metrics for adoption, speed and experience quality, and use them to decide where to invest and when to reset course.
Work across disciplines. Partner closely with engineering and design within the team, and with product, design and engineering leads across Adyen.
Go deep with your customers. Understand the engineers and designers who build on your foundations, and the merchants and shoppers who use what they build.
Who you are
Platform Product Experience. You've built products whose customers are other developers or teams, and you understand what that demands: clear contracts, careful change, and not breaking the people downstream of you.
Design Sensibility & Craft. You have a strong eye for interface quality and care about details end customers will notice. You can hold a component to a high bar and explain why it matters.
Adoption and Influence. Demonstrated ability to get teams you don't control to adopt something, in a high-autonomy, bottom-up culture.
Judgment on Standards. You know when a standard makes teams faster and when it's in the way, and you're comfortable holding the tension between the two.
Product Execution. Able to take an open-ended problem, turn it into a clear plan, and ship with velocity across multiple teams.
Analytical Rigor. Set clear metrics and use data to align on priorities, measure impact, and change course as needed.
Customer Obsession. You want to understand both the engineers building on your platform and the merchants and shoppers at the end of it.
Bonus
Experience owning a design system, component library, or UI framework
A background in frontend engineering or product design
Experience in payments, fintech, or another regulated domain
