About The Role
The Senior Aerothermal Engineer at Destinus will perform and drive the aerothermal designs of our aero-engines and related components. You will use your experience and skills to design and analyse compressors, diffusers, turbines, intakes and exhaust nozzles within our product and technology development programs. The aim is to produce highly efficient, reliable and cost-effective turbomachinery solutions using a range of tools, from meanline design tools to advanced CFD simulations and optimization tools. An important part of the work is to build up and further developing of our design process and methods. You will also define, participate in and analyse R&D tests ranging from single components/systems to full scale engine.
At Destinus , we are revolutionizing the defense industry with cutting-edge Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). Our innovative technologies are designed to meet the unique demands of modern defense operations, delivering unparalleled speed, precision, and cost effectiveness. Destinus partners with government agencies and defense organizations worldwide to provide advanced solutions for mission-critical operations, enabling a new era of efficiency and technological superiority. Join us in shaping the future of defense with groundbreaking aerospace innovations.
What You’ll Do
Aero-design of aero-engine components using meanline design tools and CFD simulations
Develop and implement automated optimization workflows including DOE and Multi-Objective Optimization
Analyze test data and compare it to numerical simulation results
Develop our turbomachinery design tools and methods
Collaborate with other engineering teams (e.g. combustion, mechanical design, stress analysis) to align design goals and evaluate results
Mentor less experienced engineers
Participating and presenting in design reviews
Document work in technical reports and specifications
Requirements
What You’ll Need
MSc in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or equivalent
>7 years of work experience from flow path design and analysis of jet engines and/or gas turbines
Experience using meanline design tools for compressors and turbines
Proficient in performing and analyzing CFD simulations of turbomachinery components, preferably Star-CCM+
Proficient in using optimization tools for compressor and/or turbine designs, e.g., Axstream, Turbodesign Optima
Experience in heat transfer calculations and/or conjugate heat transfer simulations is an advantage
Experience from product development processes incl. gate reviews
English language and communication skills (verbal and in writing) on CEFR level C1
Results-driven, problem solver and initiative-taker
Who You Are
You are curious, analytical, and driven by solving complex aerothermal challenges. You enjoy turning simulations into real engineering insight and working closely with experienced engineers to push designs further. In a fast moving R&D environment you stay proactive, detail oriented, and hands on, always looking for smarter ways to improve performance and understand how things really work.
Security screening is an integral component of the selection process, ensuring that candidates meet the organization's security standards and safeguarding against potential risks.
Providing a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is a standard part of the application process at Destinus.
