We are looking for a Senior Integration & Backend Engineer to design and deliver our new centralized Incident Management Platform (Vantage). In this high-impact role, you will focus strictly on system and backend integrations, connecting operational tools, alerting systems, Jira, and LLM-powered AI agents into our cloud infrastructure to streamline incident investigation, tracking, and operational automation.
The contract will initially be for 3 months, with the possibility of being extended to 6 months.
What You Can Expect (Responsibilities):
End-to-End System Integration: Design, build, test, and maintain production-grade API and webhook integrations linking alerting systems, Jira Cloud/JSM, and internal services with downstream event pipelines.
AI-Agent & Workflow Engineering: Implement Jira AI-agent integrations featuring tool calling, structured outputs, auditable write-backs, and human-in-the-loop approval workflows.
Event Ingestion & Reliability: Build resilient event ingestion services into cloud object storage (AWS S3) and internal endpoints, ensuring idempotency, rate limiting, and failure handling.
Jira Automation & Orchestration: Design bidirectional automations and custom webhook listeners with Jira Service Management (JSM) to trigger actions, update tickets, and maintain full audit logging.
Testing, Recovery & Handover: Take full ownership of integration testing suites, failure recovery/retry mechanisms, and operational runbooks to ensure a seamless handover to internal operations.
Requirements:
Experience: 5+ years in Backend Software Engineering or Systems Integration Engineering, with a proven track record delivering production-grade integrations and distributed services.
APIs & Backend Services: Hands-on mastery building and maintaining production REST APIs, webhooks, and microservices in Python (FastAPI, Flask) or Node.js/TypeScript, handling complex authentication, retries, rate limits, and idempotency.
Jira Cloud Integration: Direct, demonstrable experience building integrations with Jira Cloud / Jira Service Management (JSM) REST APIs, webhooks, and automation rules.
AI & Agentic Controls: Practical experience integrating LLMs/AI agents into real workflows, specifically implementing tool/function calling, human-in-the-loop validation, and full audit logging.
AWS Foundation: Hands-on experience with core AWS services, primarily S3, IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudWatch.
Engineering Discipline: Strong background in Git, CI/CD automation, Docker, automated testing (unit, contract, and integration tests), and drafting clear operational documentation/runbooks.
English Proficiency: Advanced professional English proficiency (written and spoken) to collaborate daily with multicultural, globally distributed teams.
Nice to Have:
Experience with messaging patterns, event brokers, or queues (e.g., AWS SQS, SNS, EventBridge, or Kafka).
Familiarity with SRE/incident response metrics (MTTR, MTTD) and observability tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, or PagerDuty).
Understanding of secure API design, audit trails, and sensitive data handling (PII/PCI compliance) in regulated environments.
Background in fintech, payment platforms, or high-availability distributed systems.
