At Debenhams Group, we're transforming one of Britain's most iconic retail names into a leading digital department store, with ambitions that extend far beyond the UK. Our vision is to become the number one destination for fashion, beauty and home, bringing together our own brands and an ever-growing Marketplace of incredible brand partners.
And we’re just getting started.
Alongside our own channels, a rapidly growing part of our future lies in taking our brands to new customers through Marketplace and Wholesale Partners, across the UK and Internationally. From US Department Stores and Marketplaces such as Macy's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's, Walmart and Amazon, to European Platforms such as Zalando, About You and Breuninger, and Wholesale Partners such as QVC & Sainsbury’s, this is a role with genuine scale, variety and ownership.
We are looking to hire an experienced Senior Marketplace & Wholesale Manager, reporting into the Head of Growth & Marketplaces, to own and grow our key Hybrid Marketplace and Wholesale partnerships. You'll be responsible for trading our brands successfully across your channels, maximising both top-line growth and profitability sustainably, while managing a small team and working closely with colleagues across the business.
This role can be based either out of our central Manchester or central London office.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Key Responsibilities:
Own Key Partner Relationships: Build and manage strong, senior relationships with our key Hybrid Marketplace and Wholesale partners across the UK and international markets.
Maximise Trade Performance: Drive performance of our brands across your channels, maximising both top and bottom-line growth.
P&L Ownership: Take full accountability for the P&L of your owned channels, balancing sales growth, margin and profitability, and acting quickly on trends and opportunities.
Sales Forecasting: Lead accurate, insight-led forecasting for your owned channels, working with Finance to deliver against budget and improve planning over time.
Lead the Trading Plan: Work with partners and internal teams to optimise assortment, pricing, promotions, availability and content, and make the most of every key trading moment.
Shape New Opportunities: Play an active role in negotiating commercial terms for new Hybrid Marketplace and Wholesale channels, helping us choose the partners and markets that create sustainable value.
Lead and Develop your Team: Manage and coach a small team of two assistants who support day-to-day channel operations, creating clear priorities, accountability and development.
Partner Cross-Functionally: partner with Tech, Merchandising, Buying & Design, Finance and other teams to ensure our partners are supported with the right product, data, integrations and commercial terms.
Use Insight to Make Faster, Better Decisions: Analyse sales, margin, customer and competitor data, and partner feedback, to identify growth opportunities and address underperformance.
Represent Debenhams Group: Run regular business reviews with partners and provide clear commercial updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
Stay Ahead of the Market: Keep up to date with developments across Marketplaces, Wholesale and international retail, and turn them into commercial opportunities.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Your Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
You'll be an experienced commercial leader with a track record of delivering profitable growth through partner-led and multi-channel retail.
Proven experience in Marketplace, Wholesale, retail partnerships, trading or a comparable e-commerce or fashion commercial role, ideally including international markets.
A track record of managing and growing key partner relationships and delivering results on sales, margin and profitability.
Strong commercial and financial capability, including P&L ownership, forecasting and a sound understanding of Marketplace and Wholesale economics.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into clear insight and action.
Experience negotiating commercial terms and partnerships that create value for all parties.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence working with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Experience leading, coaching and developing a team.
Ability to work cross-functionally across Tech, Merchandising, Buying & Design and Finance to get things done.
An entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset, with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-accountability environment.
Knowledge of the fashion market, and experience of international trading, is a plus.
YOU’LL BE
Commercially astute: Always looking for the next opportunity to drive growth.
Data driven: Using insight and analysis alongside strong commercial instinct.
Strategic but hands-on: equally comfortable setting the direction and getting into the detail.
Entrepreneurial: challenging convention, moving quickly and creating solutions.
Decisive and accountable: taking ownership and making things happen.
