Employment: Full-Time
Treble is building the acoustic intelligence platform for the next frontier of AI and audio technology. We bring together physics, AI, and simulation to give teams the synthetic data and development tools to design devices, develop algorithms, and train and evaluate AI systems at scale. From wearables and voice AI to physical AI, world models, and multimodal foundation models, our ambition is to shape how intelligent systems hear, understand, and interact with the world. Our customers include some of the world's leading companies in AI and consumer electronics, putting our technology at the heart of ambitious developments in audio and intelligent devices.
Founded in 2020, Treble is growing rapidly. With strong funding, deep scientific roots, and an exceptional international team, we are expanding our presence in the US and building technology with global reach. Joining now means helping shape both our platform and its adoption by teams working at the frontier of AI.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior R&D Engineer to join our Core Technology team and develop advanced acoustic simulation capabilities for audio devices.
About the role
You will help extend Treble's ability to model how audio devices emit, receive and interact with sound. Working with our simulation and software teams, you will develop numerical methods and production software for device-scale acoustics, and connect these capabilities to the wider simulation platform. There is also scope to improve the geometry processing and meshing workflows used to prepare CAD models for simulation.
The role covers the path from physical formulation and numerical implementation to verification, validation and reliable use in a product. You will bring deep expertise in audio device simulation and experience turning numerical methods into reliable software. You will help identify the level of modelling detail needed for useful, accurate results at practical computational cost.
Your tasks include
Develop and implement numerical methods for acoustic device modelling, including finite element formulations
Extend device models with vibroacoustic or other coupled effects where these are important for accurate results
Develop appropriate source models, boundary conditions and material representations for priority device applications
Help improve CAD model preparation and meshing workflows, working with software engineers on geometry quality and simulation requirements
Verify implementations against analytical solutions and numerical benchmarks, and validate models against measurements
Improve solver accuracy, robustness and computational efficiency across relevant device configurations
Integrate new methods into maintainable production software with clear tests, documentation and examples
Work with Product, Applications and customers to identify valuable capabilities and demonstrate their practical impact
The specific areas you work on will depend on product priorities and customer needs.
What we are looking for
Substantial industry experience developing acoustic simulation software or solver capabilities for audio devices
Deep expertise in modelling microphones, transducers, wearables, hearing devices or comparable audio systems, grounded in practical work with these devices
Deep knowledge of computational acoustics and finite element methods, including numerical linear algebra, discretisation, convergence and sources of modelling error
Strong programming skills and experience implementing, testing and maintaining scientific computing software
A rigorous approach to verification and validation, including comparison with measurements or established reference solutions
A track record of turning simulation methods into robust, maintainable software used by engineers in device development
An ability to turn research into practical capabilities and collaborate across scientific and software engineering disciplines
Proficiency in using AI tools to improve the quality and efficiency of your work, and an interest in exploring and shaping AI-powered workflows in your field
Nice to have
An MSc or PhD in acoustics, computational physics, engineering or a related field
Experience with thermoviscous acoustics, porous materials, narrow passages or electroacoustic coupling
Experience coupling device-scale models with larger acoustic environments or computing directional device responses
Experience with high-performance computing, parallel solvers or production C++ and Python workflows
Experience with computational geometry, CAD processing or mesh generation, including geometry repair and simplification for numerical simulation
Knowledge of geometrical acoustics and hybrid acoustic simulation methods
If you have built simulation capabilities for audio devices and enjoy turning deep technical expertise into tools engineers can rely on, we would love to hear from you. You do not need to match every nice-to-have to apply.
What we offer
Competitive compensation, including stock options and the opportunity to share in Treble's growth
Challenging work at the intersection of physics, simulation and AI, with direct impact on customers' products and commercial success
Collaboration with leading AI and consumer technology companies building next-generation devices and intelligent systems
A key role in extending Treble's core simulation technology, with direct influence on the capabilities available to device developers
A highly flexible, family-friendly work environment built on trust, ownership and autonomy
An ambitious, collaborative international team with deep expertise in acoustics, simulation and audio technology
Competitive benefits
Location
Treble HQ in Reykjavik, Iceland, or remote.
Deadline for application
October 15th 2026. For any inquiries, please write to contact@treble.tech.
