About Ubiquiti
At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity.
The Position
Ubiquiti’s Prague office is looking for a software engineer to join the team responsible for hosting UniFi and UISP applications in the cloud.
The team develops and operates the backend services and infrastructure that provision, upgrade, monitor, back up, and manage thousands of customer hosting instances worldwide.
This is not a traditional web-backend role. You will work across application code, cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, networking, databases, and production systems. We are looking for someone who can investigate problems independently, make sound engineering decisions, and take ownership of changes from design through production.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend services for UniFi and UISP cloud hosting.
Build automation for provisioning, upgrades, backups, recovery, and lifecycle management of hosted instances.
Design and implement reliable deployment and migration workflows.
Work with AWS infrastructure and containerized services.
Investigate production issues across application and infrastructure layers.
Improve reliability, observability, scalability, and security of the hosting platform.
Review technical designs and code and collaborate with other engineering teams.
Participate in evolving the architecture of the hosting platform.
Knowledge and Experience
Required:
Strong software development experience with Python.
Strong Linux knowledge and experience debugging production systems.
Good understanding of networking fundamentals.
Experience with relational databases.
Experience with containers and Docker.
Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
Ability to troubleshoot issues across application, operating system, network, and infrastructure layers.
Good written and verbal English communication skills.
Nice to have:
Experience with Go.
AWS experience.
Infrastructure-as-code experience (e.g. Terraform).
CI/CD and deployment automation experience.
Bash or other scripting experience.
Experience operating services at a significant scale.
Experience with monitoring and observability tooling.
Security-minded approach to infrastructure and backend development.
