Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Stripe Checkout is building the next generation of checkout experiences so businesses can focus on building their products instead of their conversion funnels. We’re growing and expanding Stripe’s suite of prebuilt checkout surfaces that are optimized for conversion and scale with merchants as they expand to new geographies, customer segments, and business models. Our checkout surfaces range from no- and low-code checkout pages to embedded payment forms and highly customized checkout flows so any business–from a fast-growing startup to an enterprise–can accept payments without building from scratch. Hundreds of millions of payments flow through our checkout surfaces hourly, which necessitates the highest level of craft and reliability.
What you’ll do
As a Staff Designer on Checkout, you'll lead the visual and interaction design direction for our most opinionated and optimized checkout surfaces. You’ll define how checkouts should flex to support emerging business models and underserved verticals, taking complex merchant needs and translating them to simple, conversion-optimized solutions. You’ll also contribute to and evolve the backing design system for our checkout surfaces.
Responsibilities
Define the design direction for new features and checkout surfaces across the conversion funnel
Lead design explorations from initial concept through launch
Evolve and push boundaries on visual language, component patterns, and design systems
Shape early product strategy through design exploration and rapid prototyping, making abstract opportunities tangible for product and engineering partners
Represent Checkout in senior reviews and establish the creative bar for new product directions
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
8+ years of relevant experience at a tech, product-driven company
Deep fluency in visual design, interaction design, systems thinking, and prototyping with AI tools
Experience leading complex work in close partnership with product management engineering, and design leadership
Experience shaping ambiguous spaces and driving clarity through design
Confident presenting work to senior leaders and skilled at communicating design decisions through clear, compelling storytelling
Preferred qualifications
Experience leading changes to a design system
Skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work
Background in SaaS, e-commerce, or fintech products
