Experience: Associate
The Destinus engineering team is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to own the CAD design of aeronautical structures from concept through production support. Working in Siemens NX, you will design flight structures as well as the test jigs, fixtures, and production equipment needed to build and qualify them.
You will work closely with Stress, Propulsion, and Avionics engineering, own design packages end to end, and contribute across the full development cycle – from early-stage R&D through detailed design, release, and production support.
What You’ll Do
· CAD design of aeronautical structures in Siemens NX – detailed part modelling, 2D drafting, and assembly modelling
· Design test jigs, fixtures, and production/support equipment for structural, functional, and qualification testing
· Deliver engineering calculations, analysis, and supporting documentation to substantiate design decisions
· Produce and maintain design documentation: drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and configuration records
· Integrate structural, mechanical, and interface requirements from Stress, Propulsion, and Avionics into the design
· Manage suppliers and manufacturers – address technical questions and resolve issues arising during the manufacturing process
· Participate in design reviews and technical discussions across all development phases
· Support junior engineers and interns in mechanical design, manufacturing, and CAD
· Own design packages end to end – from concept through detailed design, release, and production support
Requirements
What You’ll Need
· Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering; vocational training as a mechanical designer or drafter is a further advantage
· 3–5 years of industry experience in structural or mechanical CAD design
· Proficiency in Siemens NX for part modelling, drafting, and assembly design
· Solid working knowledge of GD&T and aerospace drawing standards
· Experience designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
· Ideally, experience across multiple development phases: design, build, integration, test, and operation
· Familiarity with configuration management and design documentation practices
· Ability to work to tight timescales both as part of an integrated, multidisciplinary team and autonomously
· Background in aerospace, defence, or a similarly regulated hardware environment
· Willingness to travel between Destinus sites in Switzerland (max. 20%)
· Fluent in English; German or French is an advantage
